TEXAS SCHOOL SAFETY CERTIFICATION COURSE

Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will receive Proof of Training from Texas DPS.

Course Details

DAY ONE (8 hours) Additonal training separate form the course requirements in accordance with Texas Government Code 411.1901

    • Basic Pistol

    • From the holster training and shooting (50 rounds)

    • Bleeding control during traumatic incidents

DAY TWO (8 Hours) in accordance with Texas Government Code 411.1901

    • Pre-qualification live fire proficiency

    • Pre-qualification written exam

    • Classroom instruction consisting of 4 core topics (protection of students, interaction of license holders with first responders, tactics for denying entry of intruder into classroom or school facility, and methods for increasing a license holder’s accuracy with a handgun while under duress)

DAY THREE (8 hours) in accordance with Texas Government Code 411.1901

    • Scenario training

    • Shooting under duress training 50 rounds

    • Shooting under duress 200 round live fire proficiency using hostage targets

Final written exam on School Safety Certification rules/regulations (90%pass)

 

Cost

    • Regularly scheduled classes at 407 Gun Club in Argyle Texas – $625 per student

    • Private class of up to six students at 407 Gun Club in Argyle Texas – $3,750 per class

    • Private class of up to six students per two-day session at your school – $3,750 per class plus travel and expenses (please reach out for a quote)

Walt Mayfield started Train, Protect, Defend (TPD) in 2019 and has taught over 2600 students (over 800 people license-to-carry and 1800 additional participants of various types and levels of firearm-related training) through private lessons, workshops, and other firearm-related classes/sessions with TPD. Walt is a Texas Level 4 (PPO) security officer, and Level 3 Classroom/Firearms Instructor. He has worked as a private security officer, security supervisor, and head of his church security team since 1994. With a background in security, fire, and life safety, including active shooter drills and scenarios, Walt brings years of safety training to the classroom experience.
